Lodging

  • ABCCM - crisis ministry that provides emergency assistance to individuals and families such as food, clothing, furniture, and financial assistance for heat, utilities, and rent/mortgage.

  • Hope Lodge: Travelling out of town for required treatment can be prohibitively expensive, so the American Cancer Society has a FREE place where cancer patients and their caregivers can stay when home is far away. Currently, 31 Hope Lodge locations throughout the U.S. offer private rooms and a nurturing home-like environment so patients can focus on getting well. Accommodation and eligibility requirements vary by location and availability first come, first served. 

  • Hospitality Homes - Free temporary housing for cancer patients who are receiving active treatment at least fifty miles away from home.

  • Joe’s House Find an online directory of free and discounted lodging for cancer patients and their families.

  • Lazarex Cancer Foundation Provides financial assistance for lodging during treatment for people enrolled in clinical trials at some medical centers.

  • Many treatment centers have other short-term housing possibilities or discount arrangements with nearby motels and hotels. The clinic social worker or oncology nurse may have ideas for low-cost housing during hospital or clinic treatment. Help with caregiver expenses.

  • Open Homes Hosts people in need of critical care and respite. Offers free, temporary housing in places to call home through Airbnb.
